Slade: Stomp Your Hands And Clap Your Feet
Ken Barnes, Phonograph Record, April 1974
I've been behind Slade's records 100% since I first heard them, but with this album the backing percentage has doubled. It's a terrific album, with plenty of their patented raspy rockers, but even more crucially some vivid demonstrations of their musical versatility at just the right time. Slayed and Sladest were pinnacles of relentless hard-rock, both among the top albums of '73; but another LP in the same mold would've proved quite wearying.
