DOUBTLESS, many of you will have noted a small item in NME's scandal section recently, which referred to the fact that Patti Smith had broken up with her several-years steady, Allen "Microphones Make Me Nervous" Lanier. Further to that info, the presumably-spurned Lanier dropped something about Patti having just banked a sum of money ending in a good many zeroes, which, in view of the success of 'Because The Night', Easter, etc., doesn't seem unreasonable.
