A Life In The Day Of . . . Neneh Cherry
Simon Witter, Sunday Times, 20 September 1992
Born of a West African father and a Swedish mother, Neneh Cherry, 28, takes her name from the American jazz trumpeter Don Cherry, whom her mother Moki married when Neneh was two. At 15 she came to Britain from New York as a dancer. A year later she was fronting the jazz iconoclasts Rip Rig & Panic. In 1989, at 25, she released her solo album Raw Like Sushi, which sold over two million. Its successor Homebrew is out next month. Neneh lives in London with her husband Cameron and their daughters Naima, nine, and Tyson, three, but they are staying at Mokis farmhouse in Sweden.
