Album By Album: Little Feat

Barney Hoskyns, Uncut, August 2008

Lowell George was a Hollywood one-off: a swarthy movie-brat beatnik with a white-negro larynx and a keeningly sensual slide-guitar style. In late '69 he formed Little Feat with keyboard virtuoso Billy Payne, proceeding to make some of the most eccentrically funky roots music ever to come out of Southern California. Payne and second guitarist Paul Barrere here guide us through the peaks of the Feat story, which survived George's cocaine-induced death in 1979.
