Alex Chilton: London, Mean Fiddler
Simon Witter, NME, 26 October 1985
ALEX CHILTON one-time Box Top, Big Star, Cramps producer, etc. is possibly rocks greatest cult hero. Like many, Ive been aware of this legendary status for years now, without knowing exactly who he is, so the trek to Harlesden was a must. But my "trek" was a joke next to the 22-hour odyssey of car crashes and missed ferries that Chilton had undertaken since his gig the previous night in Munich, a journey which ended shortly before he was due onstage.
