Alexis Korner: Man of the Blues

THE DEATH of Alexis Korner at the age of 55 from cancer marks the closing of a chapter in British music. Korner's role as one of the founding fathers of the British blues scene — mentor to a host of musicians including the Rolling Stones, Eric Burden and John McLaughlin was well-known and in recent years Korner had become not so much a musician, more a historian and oracle.
