Almost Blue: Jimmy Webb
Barney Hoskyns, Uncut, June 2005
JIMMY WEBB is sad. He looks around him at the world we inhabit and sees culture nose-diving everywhere. Subtlety is squeezed, ambiguity flattened. People dont read books anymore; songwriters dont care about chords. In 1998 he published a book, Tunesmith, in an attempt to educate budding young melodists.
