THERE ARE many differences between Britain and America – they like Hootie and the Blowfish, for example, and we like Chas and Dave; their milk tastes funny and ours is nice, and so forth – but for me the clearest difference is in how we present our rock journalist nostalgia. Admittedly, as a genre, "rock journalist nostalgia" is a small thing, never likely to overtake West Coast rap or war films in world popularity. But it does exist.
