Aretha Franklin: Almighty Fire
Joe McEwen, Rolling Stone, 29 June 1978
THERE'S A SONG on Almighty Fire that has little to do with the rest of this Curtis Mayfield-produced album. 'I'm Your Speed' ends side two and was probably tagged on as an afterthought, almost certainly at Aretha Franklin's insistence. The cut gives us more of a glimpse of Franklin's artistry and genius than her entire recorded output of the last few years.
