Be Bop Deluxe: Axe Victim
Ian MacDonald, NME, 6 July 1974
IT'S GREAT to be right in there on the first still-to-be-perfected artistic utterance of A Truly Great Group To Be. That old warm self-congratulatory glow somewhere between the sternocleidomastoid region and the lateral aspect of the neck (try it sometime it really hurts, man, but you see God) is the much-needed antidote to the everyday bite of ravenous ennui that is the more common of those experiences which together form A Rock Critic's Reality.
