Behind the Scenes with Harold Battiste

John Abbey, Blues & Soul, 9 July 1971

FREQUENTLY, we receive letters from readers' asking us to write about the people behind the scenes in our music. For example, the features we did on Jerry Wexler and the American radio stations were both received with great interest. As explained in the last issue of B&S, it is not always possible to talk with these people since they rarely come to this country and, when they do, there is no blaze of publicity as when an artist comes in.

However, we were able to take time to interview Harold Battiste, who came to Britain as manager to Tami Lynn, and who's name has been associated with Sam Cooke, Barbara George and many other R&B artists.
