Blackmore's Night: An interview with Ritchie Blackmore
Steven Rosen, unpublished, March 1995
Ritchie Blackmore, the penultimate electric guitar player, perhaps the main proponent of the Marshall/Stratocaster combo, has traded in his stacks for a tambourine and an acoustic Taylor. He has recently recorded an album with fiancée Candice Night, a Renaissance/Baroque-flavored record titled Shadow of the Moon. It is his first foray into such terrain and the result is an impeccably crafted album featuring strings and horns and synthesizers backing the inviting and wondrous voice of Night. Released under the moniker Blackmore's Night, it reveals the softer, more emotional side of the master swordsman who has been dazzling us with his guitar technique for several decades now.
