Blue Oyster Cult: Agents Of Fortune (Island)
Gene Sculatti, Crawdaddy!, September 1976
Its back-to-the-roots for the Oysters this time; the roots being the bands late-60s incarnation as the Stalk-Forrest Group. Which is to say, Agents Of Fortune intensely melodic, laced with icy Frisco guitar leads resembles S-FGs unreleased Elektra album of years back. Scary is still beautiful but Agents manages to toss some hefty lyrical ballast into the raging metal torrent that has long been BOCs stock in trade.
