Bob Marley: Trenchtown Rock
Andy Gill, MOJO, February 1999
DOVETAILING NICELY with the recent 3-CD set from JAD Records, Trench Town Rock presents the most wide-ranging account yet of the second chapter of The Wailers' story the period following their early days at Coxsone Dodd's Studio One, when they branched out to work with such gifted producers as Bunny Lee, Leslie Kong and, most fruitfully of all, Lee Perry, who strengthened the group's position by introducing them to the Barrett brothers rhythm section that would drive the BMWs' sound through the next decade.
