Bobby Womack: Understanding (United Artists)

ALTHOUGH HE'S one of the most respected rhythm 'n' blues guitarist/songwriters, Bobby Womack hasn't yet hit the big time the way an Isaac Hayes or Ray Charles has. Certainly Womack has paid his dues, starting out in partnership with his brothers in the Valentinos, touring and playing guitar with the late Sam Cooke, writing 'It's All Over Now', which was a big record for the Rolling Stones, and recording with stars like Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett.
