Brian Wilson: Sounds Unsilenced
Erik Himmelsbach, Revolver, Fall 2000
BRIAN WILSON made Paul McCartney cry. The cute Beatle readily admits that the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds has, on occasion, made him positively weepy. Sir Paul even credits the album with inspiring the Fab Four to record Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Pet Sounds has had that kind of effect on a lot of people. In fact, those who are paid to make such declarations often cite Wilson's 1966 masterpiece as the greatest pop album of the 20th century.
