AN ECLECTIC MUSICAL approach can be a double-edged sword for a rock band. Incorporating a wide variety of styles can prevent a group from becoming locked into a one-dimensional sound, but it also can pose problems in establishing a strong group identity. The latter case prevails with Squeeze, the British new-wave quintet whose three-day Whisky engagement concludes tonight.
