Bubblegum Has Stuck To Status Quo, And It's A Stain They Need Ridding Of
Tony Stewart, NME, 4 December 1971
IMAGES FOR bands are acquired, changed, but seldom forgotten and such is the case with Status Quo. Underrated yet very talented, over a period of five years they have produced fine music from a consistent line-up though they did lose an organist on the way. The bubblegum tag was firmly stuck on Status Quo with their two million seller, 'Pictures Of Match-stick Men', but before that they had been doing good old rock and roll, which nobody wanted to know about at the time.
