Burning Spear: Error Inc.
Vivien Goldman, Sounds, 19 November 1977
TALK ABOUT being stood up. The first time I met Winston Rodney/Burning Spear he was eight hours late. And this was, mind you, after having schlepped on the prototype Harder They Come-style trans-Jamaica bus, complete with chickens etc., gone swimming on a polluted beach to kill time and get strange exotic diseases, having generally gone stir-crazy in the streets of St. Anne's, a hilly higgledy-piggledy fishing village on the North Coast, the home of Marcus Garvey, slave trade embarkation point, home of the best pot on the island, and of Burning Spear, specially for the interview.
