Chakachas
John Abbey, Blues & Soul, September 1972
EVER SINCE the emergence of the Chakachas and their first record, 'Jungle Fever', there has been a great cloak of mystery surrounding their background. I think I can go back almost to the roots on the group when I say that it was actually recorded in Belgium by a bunch of studio musicians – all white and all somewhat senior citizens, apparently. The record was originally released in Belgium. Germany and France and met with some measure of interest.
