SO THERE WE were in Memphis, at the rock writers' convention. First morning there I was awakened by a phone call, "Hey, Charlie Feathers is playin' tonight!" Out of the hundred or more "rock critics" present, no more than a handful knew enough to be properly excited; I was hoping to boggle Ron Weiser with the news, but all he said was, "Yeah, I talked to Charlie this morning." Of course.
