BASED ON the bittersweet songcraft of Big Star's "lost" classic debut, No 1 Record, Chris Bell is often referred to as the McCartney to Alex Chilton's Lennon, yet his posthumously assembled solo album, I Am The Cosmos, is reminiscent of nothing so much as the Plastic Ono Band's debut in its tortured crudeness, its wracked, uncooked melodies.
