CHRISSIE HYNDE tosses her big black cowboy hat on to the hotel sofa, glances around at the foyer's dainty decor with an air of sniffy disapproval and, in a snarling tone that's only half jocular, says, "You're not going to make some smart comment about my cowboy boots, are you?" Said boots are suede – ie fashioned from beasts. "You can say what you like about my music. You can take the piss out of my music...but no one takes the piss out of my causes."
