Colin Newman: Not To
Richard Cook, NME, 6 June 1982
I miss Wire. I was always partial to the austere subversiveness, their brittle sense of editing, their hybrid of ghoulish chants and Byrdsy chiming. Though they always proclaimed their democracy it now seems clear — given the aimless greyness of the Gilbert and Lewis Dome projects — that Colin Newman was the principal creative force behind Wire; and Not To takes up from where 154 left off.
