Colosseum II: Strange New Flesh
Chris Welch, Melody Maker, 5 June 1976
THERE COMES a moment during 'Dark Side Of The Moog', when the clamour of the strident arrangement fades away, and Jon Hiseman begins a simple, repeated triplet phrased on his deeply sighing snare drum that builds together with Neil Murray's bass guitar, over ethereal chords from Don Airey's synthesizer. The tension built into that phrase typifies the music of this spanking new version of a band that has a place of honour in the development of British rock.
