Dashboard Confessional: The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most
Dan Gennoe, Q, 2002
IF THE "EMO" fraternity need a hero, Florida's Christopher Carrabba, aka Dashboard Confessional, is their man. Hurling a barrage of poetic abuse and violently chugging acoustic guitars at a two-timing girlfriend, his second album is an exhilarating celebration of self-pity and revenge. Issued with varying amounts of spite, his lyrical jibes are spectacular. 'Screaming Infidelities''s "Your hair, it's everywhere, screaming infidelities" is self-torment at its most satisfying and 'Saints And Sailors'' "This apartment is starving for an argument" defines festering resentment. But it's when anger takes over that he really becomes the underdog's champion: 'Best Deception''s snidely barked "Kiss me hard cause this will be the last time that I let you" has to be the best repost to a cheating lover, ever.
