Dead Kennedys: Punk Rot Is Here To Stay
Deanne Pearson, The Face, January 1981
THIS IS THE hardcore faction. Spiked hair, leather jackets, the backs emblazoned with the logos of Crass, UK Subs, Adam & The Ants. Hordes of them yelling and gobbing and hurling themselves at and onto the stage. These are the people mostly subject to derision in the 1980s music press, dismissed as the exploited debris of a scene which ran out of creative steam a good two years ago.
