Detective: Watching The Detective
Sylvie Simmons, Sounds, 18 March 1978
LOS ANGELES is a city full of Englishmen and Anglophiles. British bands don't play here any more, they live here. Londoners hanging out at the Rinabow Rooms on the arms of expensive escorts; provincials posing for the paparazzi; Northerners angling for the cover of the National Enquirer. A core of elite colonialists fleeing from a shattered Empire to the sun, burning while Britain fiddles.
