Dick Dale: Lord of Loud
Ian Fortnam, NME, May 1996
29 PALMS is hardly the most hospitable place on earth. It's a half-horse town located in the heart of the Californian desert and it's perpetually and intolerably hot. The cacti grow high, the roadrunners live in fear of the coyotes, and water is an extremely precious commodity. Plumes of smoke regularly dot the horizon, as the town's nearest neighbours (the Marine Corps) drop their numerous bombs in rehearsal for the next Desert Storm and deadly rattlesnakes and scorpions lurk under every rock.
