Dire Straits: Brothers In Arms (Vertigo)

ON TWO consecutive nights last week, I sat in a park in Tel Aviv and sometimes winced as I watched Dire Straits play. What amazed me is I didn't cringe constantly. What astonished me is I recognised an unhealthy slice of their sprawling set, yet I don't own their records. What flabbergasted me is I actually enjoyed hearing Mark Knopfler knitting guitar frets on several songs.
