DMZ: Boston's Best Eschew Message

Howie Klein, Waxpaper, 1978

I SPENT FEBRUARY in London working on stories about the Clash and Tom Robinson, probably the most politically relevant things to hit rock & roll since John Sinclair got hauled off to gaol. They inspired me. So I get back to Frisco in March, just in time to help organize "New Wave Against Black Lung." A benefit by the downtrodden rockers that raised $3,300 for downtrodden striking mine workers. Life was full of social content. (The whole world seemed to be going by to the tune of the Dils 'I Hate The Rich'.)
