Dooley Silverspoon

ONE HARDLY is likely to forget the name of Dooley Silverspoon and that really was the main purpose behind Dooley – whose actual surname is Witherspoon, by the way – changing his stage name from Little Dooley. Born on the last day of October, 1949, Dooley has been living in New York for so long now that he happily calls it "home". Although 'Bump Me Baby' is his first hit, it is not his first attempt. That goes back three years to when he recorded a single for the small independent Red Ruby label. Entitled 'It's Got To Be Now Or Never', the record was produced by Philly's Bobby Martin. This was immediately prior to the Philly explosion and the record achieved no real means of success.
