Echo & The Bunnymen: London, Astoria
Alex Ogg, unpublished, 22 May 1999
ITS A STRANGE TIME for a rock gig to take place – midday on the Saturday of the FA Cup final. The unusual hour is attributable to the shows simultaneous live transmission in Japan. As a result, we are cajoled nearer to the front of the stage by technicians imploring us to look "like a proper crowd". Being arranged for photogenic impact is a strange rigmarole for a rock n roll audience to endure, but we do our best to oblige.
