Ed Harcourt: Live at The Borderline, London
Nick Hasted, Uncut, August 2001
THE SINGER-SONGWRITERLY hush of bookshops doesn't, it turns out, bring out the best in Ed Harcourt's combative soul. His recent Borders acoustic show may have been a qualified success, but backed up here by a full band and string quartet, with a chattering, half-interested, boozed-up crowd to battle, the streak of unstoppable, wired arrogance which has brought him to the brink of real success at 22 serves him well.
