Elf: Elf

Jim Esposito, Rock, 29 January 1973

2013 NOTE: I was into Deep Purple so when I noticed this debut album by a hitherto unknown group called Elf was produced by Roger Glover and Ian Paice I offered to review it. Next time Purple came through town Elf was opening for them and I got friendly with their lead singer, who had a great voice, though I did not mention his name in my review – Ronnie James Dio. Ran into Ronnie a number of times through succeeding years. In the early 80s I remember getting invited to a birthday party for a fellow Heavy Metal musician at his house in L.A. with Glenn Hughes and guys from Y&T. A great singer and a good guy, we always got along––JE
