Eric Clapton: There's One In Every Crowd (RSO)

Idris Walters, Let It Rock, May 1975

Acupuncture is healing by means of the manipulation of energy centres on the surface of the body. Patti Boyd used to hang out with George Harrison. Now she hangs out with Eric Clapton. Eric Clapton took an acupuncture cure for a bad junk habit. 461 Ocean Boulevard was his first post-cure album. It was a gentle performance noteworthy for its grace, its reggae, its follow up tour, its fragile charm and the fact that it represented a welcome home¬coming for one of rock's most believable vagabonds. There's One In Every Crowd has similar grace, a shade more reggae, the same lazy endings, the same restrained religiosity, the same easy shuffle - it is Part Two. There's One In Every Crowd and 461 Ocean Boulevard would together make a lasting double. The second in a pair, it is bound to be easier to take and harder to get excited about.
