Garnet Mimms: Whisky A Go Go, London

MANY ENTHUSIASTS feel that Garnet Mimms is the best of the current crop of soul-ballad vocalists and if we pretend that "soul" is an idiom separate from any other, I would tend to agree that, with the exception of Solomon Burke, he certainly qualifies for top honours. Garnet’s recordings are constantly praiseworthy and so too, as we are now aware, are his live performances.
