George Harrison: Gone Troppo
Roy Trakin, Musician, January 1983
THE "MYSTICAL" BEATLE had his first hit in a long time last year with that cloying, simplistic eulogy, All Those Years Ago. On his latest effort, though, George's depression in the wake of John Lennon's sudden death goes far deeper than that pop tune's treacly sentiments. Gone Troppo is George Harrison's tenth solo album in the thirteen years since the Fab Four's demise, but it's still impossible to judge his music on its own merits.
