Godley And Creme: Consequences (Mercury)
Kit Aiken, Uncut, March 1998
KEVIN Godley and Lol Creme were the edgier, brighter half of the astoundingly fertile smart-pop quartet that was 10cc, 1973-1976. They were film-obsessed hipster pasticheurs, artists with a capital Art but with tart humour, musicians as convincing with dense harmony and unpredictable melody as with unforgettable pop hooks. Ironic, wary of sentiment, super-sharp and ice-cool, Godley and Creme were the Coen brothers of rock.
