Gram Parsons: Grievous Angel

Noe Gold, Crawdaddy!, April 1974

GRIEVOUS ANGEL is the final, triumphant chapter of an epitaph Gram Parsons must have begun writing years ago. No one could have done it better perhaps because no one else could be more preoccupied with Gram Parsons' death. In light of the macabre atmosphere of the circumstances around his ritualized burial, Parsons' declaration on this LP's opening cut that "now I know just what I have to do" is ironically significant.
