Greg Kihn

JUST SO that we understand each other, it might be simpler to detail a few of the things which Greg Kihn (pronounced 'kin', simple as that) is not, before we delve into our short exploration of his world. Being on Beserkely, you see, is likely to tar him with a Jonathan Richman brush, Jonathan being the only artist on the label to have scored here significantly. Greg, although he does a hilarious impression of his stable mate, is totally unlike Jonathan, and for that matter has little or no stylistic resemblance to any of the Rubinoos, the vast majority of Earthquake, and the entire Tyla Gang, although in fact the (almost) complete Beserkley roster are now members of the concept group which typifies the fact that this label is well named – they're called the Spitballs, by the way, and feature nine guitarists, five drummers etc., and their first single is a ludicrous version of 'Telstar', which the timid should avoid.
