"How Do I Reprogamme This Robot?" mused JOSH HOMME "And Make Trance-Dance Repetitive Rock For Girls?"

Kate Mossman, The Word, April 2011

IT'S PRONOUNCED "hommy", rhymes with "mommy". Everyone gets it wrong, but Homme seems more fitting anyway for this great big tank of manhood, the Queens Of The Stone Age frontman, who stands 6ft 5in and weighs in at about 220lb. Today his famous upper arms, big as two sides of beef, are sheathed in denim. Most of his 17 tattoos are hidden too, but etched on his knuckles are the names of his grandparents, Cam and Cap, from back home in Palm Desert, California, and on his right forearm you can just make out the legend "Freitag 4.15". It's a memento of the worst gig he ever played, at a festival in Germany in 2002 — a reference to the exact time of his band came on stage, and a reminder that you are never too good to screw up.
