BOB BROWN was a young, successful stock trader from New York who got transferred to San Francisco, settled in peaceful Mill Valley, happened onto a mellow pop-rock band called Pablo Cruise, became its manager, helped it get a platinum album and, in 1979, was just beginning to get bored with the record business.
