Ian Dury 1942 - 2000
Charlie Gillett, Observer, The, 29 March 2000
THE FIRST TIME I saw Ian Dury was at the Tally Ho in Kentish Town in 1972, when he had just started to play in London pubs with Kilburn and the High Roads. I was immediately transfixed by a band that didnt look like a band, but seemed to have been formed spontaneously by six people who had just met at the bus stop outside.
