Can Buy The Thrills!
Barney Hoskyns, Rock's Backpages, June 2003
IRISH BOYS HAVE always gone off to the promised land in search of girls and gold, but Dublin's Thrills did more than that. They spent a summer in San Diego, then wrote a whole album of songs about the magic of California. The record – out at the end of this month and produced by Beck/Supergrass boardmeister Tony Hoffer – is called So Much For The City and it's a delight. Think Teenage Fanclub's Grand Prix re-scripted by Paddy McAloon and rearranged by the High Llamas' Sean O'Hagan. Guitarist DANIEL RYAN spoke last month to BARNEY HOSKYNS.
