In His Own Right: Ian MacDonald
Paul Gorman, unpublished, March 2001
I INTERVIEWED Ian MacDonald for my music press history In Their Own Write in March 2001. As charming, tolerant and insightful as the first-class prose on popular music he produced for nigh-on 30 years, Ian insisted that the interview be conducted via email "on the basis that anything one says ad lib is likely to be imperfectly expressed and hence inappropriate to be preserved in print".
