J Geils Band: Freeze Frame (EMI America)
Sandy Robertson, Sounds, 6 February 1982
THESE GUYS have moved over the last decade from being celebrated white R&B critical fave raves on Atlantic (hardworking moderate successes), to a recent megachart tenure with EMI America, which label has put out the Boston boys' last two platters (this being the latest). With the cash, though, has come disfavour from the connoisseurs who salivated over their early soul covers like 'First I Look At The Purse'. It's all as you'd expect, babe.
