Jan & Dean: Legendary Masters Series
Metal Mike Saunders, Rolling Stone, 30 March 1972
JAN AND DEAN were real clowns. I saw 'em on the TAMI Show back in 1965 and they were the only downer part in the whole fantastic thing bopping around on their stupid skateboards. They always tried so obviously to be funny that you just wanted to throw a pie in their face and kick them off the stage. Sure, Lesley Gore was great (same show, spelled T-A-M-I). But Jan & Dean stank.
