John Richbourg: The Grandaddy Of Soul

OF THE MANY white disc jockeys who pioneered the airplay of black rhythm 'n' blues through the 1950s and 60s, perhaps the most influential in the South was John "R" Richbourg of Nashville, Tennessee. If anyone has claim to be the father of southern Soul, at the very least a major catalyst, it is he.
