Johnny Cash: American V
Stephen Dalton, Times, The, July 2006
MORE THAN THREE YEARS after his death, the Man In Black is still enjoying the kind of final-act career resurgence that artists half his age might envy. This year we have already seen Cash resurrected via the youthful, lusty form of Joaquin Phoenix in Walk The Line. On American V, the posthumous finale to his inspired series of collaborations with producer Rick Rubin, Cash speaks to us again from beyond the grave, only this time in the cracked and gnarly baritone of his 71-year-old self.
